Cardiologist/Internist

Dr. Singh graduated at the top of his medical school class, with honors, receiving his medical degree from the University of the West Indies.

He did his Internal Medicine residency, as well as his post Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester in New York. He did his Cardiology Fellowship at the Harris Chasanoff Heart Institute at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he dedicated a year to the study of Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is a Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (F.A.C.C.), and also a member of the American College of Physicians, Hartford County Medical Association and the Connecticut State Medical Society. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Connecticut Medical Center.

Highly respected in the field of cardiology, Dr. Singh embraces an integrated patient care approach where traditional and complementary medicine meet to not merely treat disease but to ensure the total physical, psychological, and social well-being of the individual. He is also well-known for his expertise in the management of thyroid disorders, lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.

In 2001 he was voted one of the top 100 physicians in Connecticut as published in Connecticut Magazine.

Dr. Engster started practicing at Avon Medical Group in November 1996. He received his MD from Albany Medical College in 1969 and did his internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in California from 1969 to 1970. After that, Dr Engster came to Connecticut to do his residency at Hartford Hospital.

For over ten years, Dr. Engster was director of the Medical Outpatient Clinic at Hartford Hospital. Throughout his compassionate and dedicated career, he has been both a practicing physician and an outstanding teacher. He has been an instructor in the flight-nurse trauma program, and an instructor in the emergency medical technician/paramedic staff program. He is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Engster is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is the Director of Avon Medical Group’s International Travelers’ Clinic. He is a member of the Society of Ambulatory Care Providers, The American Society of Internal Medicine/American College of Physicians, and the Hartford County Medical Association.

Annie Hurtado, A.P.R.N.

Nurse Practitioner

Annie was an RN for over 20 years working in Critical Care then in Emergency Medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

She graduated from UCLA with a Masters in nursing and certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1990.

Since then she has gained enormous knowledge and experience in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine and Women’s Health.
Annie enjoys the challenge of taking care of all age groups from infancy to the very elderly and looks forward to welcoming forever, current and new patients to her practice.
